What comes to mind when you think of spending one day in Dubai? Most likely the answer lies in shopping and marvelling at Dubai’s architecture. And why not? Home to one of the largest shopping malls in the world (Dubai Mall) and the world’s tallest building (Burj Khalifa), Dubai is an enchanting city for those who like the high life! But if you’re done shopping to your heart’s content and ogled enough at shiny skyscrapers, how about spending one day in Dubai by a private beach, with some cocktails and delicious Italian food for company? Yes, you heard that right! With a beach access day pass in Dubai, you can do that and a lot more at the luxurious Westin Mina Seyahi. A surprisingly relaxing way to spend a day in the otherwise fast-paced city.
Westin Dubai Mina Seyahi – The Property
For Westin Dubai day pass holders, the entrance into the sprawling property is through Club Mina, located at the farthest end of the combined space occupied by Le Meridien and Westin. If you’re not actually putting up at either of the hotels, you’ll need to sign up at the entry gate and pay for the day pass. The Westin Dubai day pass costs 240 AED for adults and 130 AED for children on weekdays. And over the weekends, it costs 370 AED for adults and 185 AED for children. This beach day pass in Dubai turned out to be one of our favourite things to indulge in during our recent trip to the UAE. It gave us unbarred access to Westin’s private beach as well as the pools, bar and restaurant, without even having to spend a night there!
Westin Dubai Mina Seyahi is one of the most luxurious properties in Dubai and needless to say, it didn’t disappoint at all! With half a kilometre stretch of white sandy beach to boast of, warm water of the Arabian Gulf sweeping at your feet and a view of the Atlantis in the distance, this is probably one of the best ways to spend one day in Dubai! The beach looked extremely welcoming as we entered, with massive, comfy beds laid out to soak in the sun. If that’s not too appealing to you, ask one of the staff members to help you with a beach umbrella. Order in a drink from the beach bar and take in the gorgeous view of the Arabian sea.
Look around from the beach and you’ll soon spot Westin’s in-house swimming pool almost resembling a lagoon, the longest I’ve seen at any hotel! But more than that, what we found really interesting is the segregation of adult and children’s swimming pools. This means that in a section of the pool, as well as the beach, only adults are permitted. This is perfect for those travelling solo or as a couple and want some quiet time. Adults are also obviously allowed in the children’s section to be able to accompany their kids and have some fun splashing around in the pool. So feel free to take your pick and find yourself a spot wherever you feel most comfortable! Oh, did I tell you they even have beach cabanas in place with sheer drapes and fairy lights, for a dose of extra luxury? 😉

Dining Experience at Bussola – Best Italian Restaurant in Dubai
Now here comes the most exciting part! I did tell you that the Westin Dubai day pass gives you access to their in-house restaurants, right? Our choice for the day was Westin’s famed restaurant, Bussola, one of the top Italian restaurants in Dubai. A 3-in-1 concept, Bussola has a signature restaurant, a pizzeria and a lounge, all overlooking the private beach. We chose to dine at the restaurant for a lunch, that, as you will see, turned out to be one of the most epic Italian meals we’ve ever had!
It was a bright sunny day in Dubai so we decided to skip the al fresco seating arrangement and found ourselves a cosy little table with a view of the beach inside the restaurant. The interiors of the restaurant were classy and stylish and furnished with sleek, minimalistic wooden furniture, perfect for a corporate lunch or even a laidback holiday brunch! The central part of the restaurant also had these really cool lamps hanging from the ceiling, that almost resembled futuristic art installations! Given that we are talking about one of the top Italian restaurants in Dubai, such decor should come as no surprise!
Once we settled into our seats, the servers promptly handed us the wine list, which by no means is your average wine menu. After a quick glance, we decided to go with the house pour of the day, which the servers highly recommended. A glass each of Red wine and Rosé later, we could already feel the happy juices doing their work. So we thought it was a good time to start ordering appetizers. We chose to try their Seafood Fritters, Veal Carpaccio, Tuna Tartare and of course, a small serving of their infamous Burrata, all the way from Italy!
Each and every dish was outstanding and had very generous portions. But honestly, that Burrata still has my heart! 😛 Fresh, soft, oozing creamy cheese – this was a trip to heaven for our palates!
The main course was another beautiful affair all together! Fresh pasta with pork sausage, mushrooms, truffle and parmesan cheese; a Black Cod fillet; a Rib-eye steak with cheese, mushrooms and a balsamic reduction – Sublime is the word! Can you tell we are still salivating just at the thought of these yummy dishes?
When you are dining at one of the best Italian restaurants in Dubai, how can you end the meal without a dessert? In this case, though, we had the pleasure of tasting a platter of 4 different desserts. You can probably imagine the bombardment of flavours on our palettes by the end of this session. The desserts were (from left to right) – Tiramisu; a molten dark chocolate cake with fresh berries and pear sorbet; hazelnut parfait with chocolate mousse and nougat; Baba’ al rum with bitter chocolate and pear mousse. Believe me, if desserts could kill, these would be the deadliest weapons of all!
Our lunch at Bussola was more than just a meal. It was a multisensory gastronomic journey to a beautiful place in food heaven. If you have one day in Dubai to spare and want to enjoy a luxurious meal, we highly recommend you pay a visit to Bussola at the Westin Mina Seyahi. Not just for the food, but for the overall experience.
All that food and generous pours of wine later, we really didn’t want to do much apart from settling down on a beach bed and watching the sun set into the Arabian Sea. We were so glad to have decided to spend one day in Dubai experiencing another side to this city. If you are visiting Dubai for a few days or if you are a local, either way, securing a beach access day pass for Westin Mina Seyahi is a great way to spend one day in Dubai amidst luxury, delectable food and a stunning view to complete the experience.
